AUDIO EXPERIENCE FROM FRANCE
He was the least well-known of the three. I remember their musical trio and the absolutely incredible speed of these three guitarists: John McLaughlin, Al di Meola, and, of course, Paco de Lucía. I just heard of his death, which struck me a blow. When I was a teenager, those of us taking guitar lessons always wondered how it was possible to move through guitar solos at that speed. Technical prowess made room for generosity, and I couldn’t help but admire an artist who was responsible for the rebirth of a flamenco that was generous and open to the world.
